Alhaji Sherrif Issah is an Information Security Governance, Risk & Compliance Professional with 17 years of work experience. He consults for organizations across Africa; on the implementation, maintenance, and auditing of international security standards and frameworks. His expertise includes information security, business continuity, data protection, cloud security, project management, risk management, and compliance.
Sherrif attended Bishop Essuah J.S.S in Takoradi, then proceeded to Fijai Secondary School to read General Arts. At Fijai, he was in T-Menson house, and he was the only candidate in the 2005 year group, who sat for music exams during the SSCE. Sherrif holds both first and second degrees from University of Ghana, and MSc. IT degree from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He is also an alumnus of Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), PECB University (U.S.A.), National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (India), and Indian Institute of Hardware and Technology.
Sherrif holds several professional certifications. Key among them include: Certified Chief Information Security Officer, Payment Card Industry Professional, Certified Data Protection Officer, Certified IPC Management Systems Auditor, ISO 27005 Senior Lead Risk Manager, ISO 21502 Senior Lead Project Manager, ISO 27001 Senior Lead Implementer, ISO 27001 Senior Lead Auditor, ISO 22301 Senior Lead Implementer, ISO 22301 Senior Lead Auditor, Senior Lead Cybersecurity Manager, Senior Lead Cloud Security Manager, and PECB Certified Trainer.
Sherrif has previously worked with Minetec Services Ltd., IPMC, Digital Jewels Ltd., and Cal Bank. He is currently a Cybersecurity Manager at Deloitte Ghana, and the Director of Information Security & Data Protection for Institute of ICT Professionals Ghana. He also serves as a Subject Matter Expert for EC-Council (USA), TRECCERT (Germany), and Cloud Security Alliance (U.S.A).
Sherrif won Deloitte Ghana’s FY 23 Top Achiever Award for Serving with Integrity. As one of the top information security professionals in Ghana, he was awarded the 2023 MTN Ghana Cyber Hero. He has been able to conduct The Sherrif Security Indicator survey for 5 years, and still counting. He has been a speaker at local and international conferences. He serves as a mentor to several information security professionals and students. As part of his personal social responsibility, he undertakes free cybersecurity training and awareness for professionals and the general public through workshops, webinars, articles, and radio talk shows. He is also one of the professionals supporting the Cyber Security Authority on the establishment of the Cybersecurity Industry Forum.
