Meet a dedicated advocate and caregiver who has made it her mission to support children and adolescents living with type 1 diabetes. After completing her basic education at Young Christians Junior High School and senior high school at Fijai Secondary School, she pursued further training at the Nursing and Midwifery Training College Sekondi and later attended the University of Cape Coast while working.

Driven by her personal experience living with type 1 diabetes, she believes in being her own mouthpiece and advocating for the rights and needs of individuals living with the condition. She volunteered with Diabetes Youth Care, a peer support group in Ghana that provides diabetes education and medical support to improve the quality for life of young people and families affected by diabetes. As the Vice President of Diabetes Youth Care, she led volunteers in creating awareness, mentoring, and supporting individuals living with diabetes, further expanding her impact while working at Apinto Government Hospital.

Through educational campaigns, she reached out to senior high schools in Tarkwa and even her alma mater, Fijai Secondary School, empowering young people with knowledge about living with the condition. Currently, she works with the Sonia Nabeta Foundation, caring for children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes, motivating and inspiring them to manage their condition effectively. Her efforts have earned recognition, including an award for the best-improvement award of the Year at the SWEET Initiative Conference in Vienna, Austria.

As a global advocate for T1International, a global organization, she continues to make a positive impact on the lives of those living with type 1 diabetes. Through her platform, she sheds light on the unique challenges of living with type 1 diabetes in Ghana, sharing her personal experiences, raising awareness, and advocating for better support and resources for individuals living with the condition in her community and beyond. Invited to share her expertise and inspire others, she travels across the country and internationally, motivating and educating about type 1 diabetes.

As a nurse and diabetes educator, she also volunteers at type 1 diabetes camps for children, providing invaluable support and guidance. Her tireless efforts have made a lasting impact on the lives of countless young people living with type 1 diabetes. As a mentor and leader, she empowers young activists from across Africa, leading them to advocate for policy changes that affect their lives. Through her guidance, these young advocates are equipped with the knowledge and skills to educate and inspire others, driving meaningful change in their communities. Her legacy extends beyond her own work, inspiring a new generation of leaders to make a difference.
